Toyota’s 2022 Dream Car Art Contest is now open for entries with children across the UK invited to design their personal vision of the future of mobility.

Youngsters are encouraged to let their imagination run wild to come up with innovative forms of transport that can move people from place to place while also protecting the environment.

In past years, Toyota has witnessed fantastic concepts created by young minds, such as a flying car that can zap viruses and a hoverboard to help the homeless and eradicate poverty.

What is the Dream Car Art Contest?

The 2022 Dream Car Art Contest is a worldwide competition designed to inspire creativity and interest in how the freedom of mobility can help make the world a better place. Since its launch in 2004, more than six million young people have taken part from more than 100 different countries.

In a change to the format this year, entries can be submitted digitally as well as by post. Children are asked to present their dream car design against a colourful background and to include an explanation of how the car works and what makes it special. They can use pens, pencils/crayons or paint, or computer art tools if they want to present their work in a digital format. Original works can be scanned and submitted as digital files, if preferred.

There are three age group categories: under eights, 8-11 years and 11-15 years. The UK winners in each category will receive an iPad and the second and third place entries will be given a Samsung tablet. All nine winners will also receive a Toyota goody-bag and their entries will automatically go forward for consideration in the global final of contest, which will be judged in August 2022.

This gives them the chance of winning a top prize of $5,000 (approx.£3,670) to spend on personal education items, plus a further $10,000 (approx. £7,340) for their school or college.

How do I enter the contest?

Entry forms and more details about the 2022 Dream Car Art Contest can be found here. The closing date for entries is 21 December 2021.
